Synopsis
is set in a Missouri farming community beset by North-South tension in the days after the Civil War. A stranger comes to town, stays with a South-sympathizing family, helps out with farming tasks, and falls in love with the daughter. Pressed to reveal his wartime affiliation, he reveals fighting for the North. Eventually, he reveals his connection to the family’s oldest son, who went off to war and never returned.
